Movement in the Mist

Description: I have a very close and dear friend named Jerry Hendrickson. We have known each other since we could walk or talk. We still communicate weekly and get together several times a year, always finding some trail to hike or bike. We have climbed Mount Monadnock, in New Hampshire, together 4 times. In the spring of 2012 Jer and I were hiking along Stony Fork Creek, south of were I did 'The Laughing Place', when we discovered this mature hemlock with it's intricate root system beneath a large rock outcropping. Although we didn't see a bobcat here, I had seen one a couple of miles from this spot, and it just looked like a perfect place for one, looking for the movement of prey in the morning mist. A year later, after I had finished the painting, Jer came to visit and we decided to go back to this enchanted forest. We had a very difficult time finding this spot because a large dead tree had fallen over these rocks during the winter and sections of it's rotting trunk were now covering the root system, a sign of the ever changing nature of nature.
