Subject: Cheetah Dimensions (inches): 21 x 40 Medium: Acrylic on Hardboard Description: 'It was the elusive 'successful hunt' that moved me to paint this cheetah in this particular pose. I had watched it chase and kill its prey, but knew that there was still no guarantee of a meal. So often, after spending so much energy, the kill is taken away from the cheetah by other stronger, or more numerous, predators. But not this time. Unchallenged, this cheetah was able to enjoy a satisfying meal and I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon and evening watching her. I wanted to capture the moment when, as the light was fading and after cleaning up, the cheetah was finally ready to rest. While I was working on the painting, people would walk up to me and ask whether the cheetah was pregnant. My often repeated reply that the cheetah was in fact 'full' turned out to be the perfect name for the painting.'
