Motherhood
(2015)
Subject: Cheetah mother and cub Dimensions (inches): 16 x 16 Medium: oil on exhibition panel Description: About 30 reference photos were used to compose this painting from a scene of 3 cubs with Mum and a kill - an oryx - second time I've seen cheetahs with an oryx, which is impressive because oryx are big with huge horns & cheetahs are not so big; also considering Mum was the sole hunter in this case. The cubs were not large enough.. The scene shows the protective glare of the mother versus the incredible cuteness of the cub. Not too many cubs actually make it to adulthood as there are many predators and dangers for them. I could only imagine what the mother goes through in raising them
