Subject: Hand sculpted leaded crystal vase Dimensions (inches): 14 x 8 Medium: Leaded Crystal Description: Clay, fire & Ice Bloom On Ice is the latest in the Bloom series. First there was Bloom in porcelain that was sculpted while studying in the Netherlands. She was the first piece that I created in my version of the Rorstrand Collection from Stockholm, Sweden. I knew then that I would be taking her to another level and that is when she was recreated several years later in Bronze. After seeing her exquisite brilliance in bronze I wanted still to take her to another level and that is when I envisioned her in leaded crystal. This journey has been one that has taught me so much in the world of sculpture. Just the feel of the porcelain vs. the bronze and now the leaded crystal is breath taking to me. Each medium has it's limitations that you must learn to work with and the leaded crystal proved to be the most limiting one of all. After the loss of the first leaded crystal of Bloom on Ice I would not stop trying. After many months the foundry was able to give me the current Bloom On Ice. She has just a touch of pink to show the possibilities of adding colored leaded crystal during the casting.
