Winter Fox Trot
(2009)
Subject: Fox, Red Fox
Dimensions (inches): 20 x 36
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Description: Our home is nestled against a wetland located in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. We share this area with numerous Alberta wildlife, including many species that migrate through our small haven at nature's specified time of the season. We are fortunate to have a year round companion nestled in the brush near our home, a little Red Fox. Watching him during the seasons and how he adapts to his natural environment is truly enlightening. His sly, cautious visits are mutual exchanges of curiosity that we experience together. His random stays at numerous dens in the area always worry me as to whether or not he has survived another week from predators. It is with relief that I spot him again, trotting through the prairie grass or snow. He seems so lonesome, yet so fascinating, this mysterious creature that seems a cross between canines and felines, a truly unique creation.
Wendy Palmer is very honored to have Winter Fox Trot selected by an independant jury to exhibit in 'The Art of Conservation - An International Exhibition of Nature in Art' this September to December, 2009 at the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum in New Jersey, one of the world's leading museums for nature and wildlife art.
