Eastern Kingbird in Willow
(2003)
Subject: sold Dimensions (inches): 21 x 15 Medium: Watercolor and Gouache on paper Description: SOLD The Eastern Kingbird regularly breeds at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Eastern Oregon. There, this species seems to prefer the brushy willows to the tall cottonwoods favored by the Western Kingbirds. For this painting, I was excited by the juxtaposition of the bird's black and white plumage with the black and silver branches of the willow.
