Myna Distraction
Subject: Bull Dimensions (centimeters): 29.7 x 36 Medium: Oil Description: This painting was commissioned by a customer in Tauranga who adored Louis, one of half a dozen bulls who lived in fields adjoining her property. These animals are generally very friendly but none more so than Louis, a bull whose gentle persona crept into their hearts. Louis later went to live at Rainbow Farm in Rotorua and to remember this special man, a painting was requested. It appeared from the photographs the customer sent that Louis would often be distracted from his grazing by something more interesting, whether this was the photographer or something else. I sensed an independent streak as he would often be looking a different way to his peers. I decided therefore to depict this characteristic in my painting. Called ‘Myna Distraction' Louis is momentarily distracted from his musings by a myna bird resting on a nearby fencepost.
