Subject: belted kingfisher Dimensions (inches): 9 x 11 Medium: Oil on Russian birch Description: I often see Belted Kingfishers along the shoreline where we live and I've done many studies of them in my sketchbook. In this oil I've focused on two attributes of these birds that interest me the most; the personalities evident in their sharp eyes and pugnacious head feathers, and the skill in flight pursuing the activity of their namesake.
