Painted Dog
Wednesday, September 5, 2007

This photo shows the collar that the dog is wearing. It allows the dog to be tracked and has a strong metal section at the front (with metal prongs). If the dog is caught in a snare the prongs on the collar can often catch the snare wire and make sure the dog is not as seriously injured. Snares are indiscriminate and although no poacher aims to catch a Painted Dog, they are often caught and will die the same death as any other animal caught in the same way.
