The AFC Website is constantly developing new programs to fulfill its mission. Following are a list of current programs already running:
- Art for Conservation Program - Unique in concept, this program provides a venue for the sale of artwork with portion of proceeds earmarked for conservation after the artwork is sold. Artists choose the amount of their committment and a recognized conservation charity as beneficiary. A "ticker" estimating the total potential pledge amount is posted on the AFC Website.
- AFC Website - The AFC Website is the largest, most sophisticated and most visited site of its kind today and new features and initiatives are being added weekly. It features several thousand original and limited edition artworks with a collective value in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
- AFC Annual Festival - The Artists for Conservation Festival is a signature international cultural event featuring 10 days of art and environmental education, featuring the premier of AFC's annual exhibit, symposium, youth workshops, live artist demos, gallery tours and wildlife viewing, First Nations performances and film. The 2011 Festival held in Vancouver featured some of the leading nature and wildlife artists and naturalists from around the world. Featured film was "How an Artist Saved the Mountain Gorilla: Retracing the Steps of Carl Akeley." Stephen Quinn's Flag Expedition to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. The 2012 Festival will be help again in Vancouver from Oct 12 - 21, 2012. Visit the festival website for more information: http://festival.artistsforconservation.org/
- AFC Flag Expeditions Program - Launched in March, 2005, this ground-breaking program was created to make possible the field study and artistic rendering of endangered species or habitats deserving of greater public attention. AFC Signature Members can apply for fellowship grants and the privilege of carrying the AFC flag on their journeys to remote and ecologically important areas of the planet. For more information, visit the Flag Expeditions Program information page.
- The Art of Conservation - An International Exhibition of Nature in Art. AFC’s Annual Juried Exhibit – The Art of Conservation – recognizes artists for their commitment to artistic excellence and conservation, raises awareness of conservation issues, and directly supports conservation organizations through the sale of artwork.
- Annual Juried Exhibit (Live & Virtual) - The AFC exhibit is the world's top conservation-themed art exhibit. In 2011, The Art of Conservation Exhibit was at the Artists for Conservation Festival in Vancouver, BC from Nov 5 to 13, 2011. The exhibit will feature over 70 original artworks for sale by over 50 leading nature and wildlife artists from around the world. The exhibit is currenlty on-tour at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson until March 2012. Visit the Virtual Exhibit avaliable online.
- AFC Conservation Artist Award - We have created a monthly award to honor members who, in addition to exhibiting exceptional artistic talent, are making extraordinary contributions to the conservation cause. Past winners include Christopher Walden, Glen Loates, Michael Dumas & Simon Combes.
- Simon Combes Conservation Award - In honour of Simon, a valued member of the AFC until his tragic death in 2004, this annual award is presented in recognition of an individual artist (AFC Member) for outstanding artistic excellence and extraordinary support of conservation. Past honourees include David Shepherd, Robert Bateman, John Banovich, Sue Stolberger, Robert Glen and Dr. Guy Harvey.
- AFC Cooperative Advertising Program - An ongoing success and great opportunity for members to increase their exposure in key publications.
- Nature Art Newswire - AFC members each post events to the "News" sections of their own AFC sites. These postings automatically feed our global news section as "press releases". As a result of this program, the AFC site has become the largest and most comprehensive nature art news source anywhere, online or offline.
- Nature Art Events Calendar - AFC artists each post events to the "Events" sections of their own AFC sites. Like the Nature Art Newswire Program, these postings automatically feed our global AFC events calendar. Listings are supplemented by our events submission system open to all visitors to the site. As a result of this program, the AFC site has the largest and most comprehensive nature art events listing anywhere, online or offline.
